Roe vs Wade was a hot topic on From a Woman’s POV    this week. The war on a woman’s right to choose continues. The Florida House Criminal Justice Subcommittee voted 8-3 on the “Florida for Life Act” or HB865. If made law, it will ban all abortions with the exception of the health and well-being of the mother. We spoke with Laura Goodhue, Executive Director of Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates on her take on the bill.

Many know that Roe vs Wade guarantees a woman’s right to have an abortion, but did you know that it also protects a woman’s right to have a baby?  Renee Tajima-Pena joined us to talk about her documentary “No Mas Bebes.” It documents the stories of a  small group of Mexican immigrant women who sued county doctors, the state and the U.S. government after they were sterilized without their consent, and unknowingly when giving birth at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center during the late 1960s and early 1970s.  This is considered the birth of a movement for Chicana rights and reproductive choice. The documentary will air on WEDU on February 1st at 10 pm.
