WMNF’s Hot Box runneth over with new releases (plus some other new stuff)

So much new music to listen to here at WMNF. And the music is in every genre, some songs combining a bunch of genres. Did you want science fiction/art noise/hip hop?  Hello, Clipping. How about psychedelic Tropicalia pop? Yay, new Allah-Las. But first let’s start with this artist:

The Soul of John Black  (This is an older video, but he has a new release, Early in the Moanin’ that is amazing and was just put in the Hot Box)

This is what our Program Director had to say about Shovels and Rope:

We have been waiting for this for a while as this album is already been doing very well. This is the popular husband and wife duo who have sold out a couple of shows locally (Crowbar, State).   Expecting an Americana sound, Flee and I were shocked at the first track which rocks hard like an out-take from T-Rex. The album has some loud rocking tracks and some quieter tunes so everybody should find something to their liking.

Joseph is a trio of sisters that have a little throwback in their sound because of the killer harmonies. Here is Randy’s take ~

Big buzz about the breakthrough from  three  sisters from Portland Oregon. .  Thier album has zoomed to number 3 on the Public Radio Triple A,  they are already on Bonnaroo’s list for 2017, and a show in Orlando’s Hard Rock Live 9/19 sold out quickly.

Michael Kiwanuka continues to blow our minds as we dive into his entire new album, Love & Hate. This is a long video, but this song is AMAZING.

Clipping is getting a little extra attention right now because vocalist/rapper Daveed Diggs originated the roles of Lafayette and Jefferson in the splendid Hamilton, and now is appearing on black-ish and other shows. They will be playing St. Pete on November 1.

And WMNF Fav The Allah-Las new release, Calico Review, keeps some of their sun-drenched sound, but adds a little darkness.
