Bigger and better than last year—this year’s festival has a dozen music performances/events over 6 hours and will be held at one of Tampa Bay’s Award winning breweries, Cage Brewing in the St Pete arts district.
You’ll hear everything from ukulele Reggae and Bluegrass sounds to Americana and Rock—the little ukulele knows no limits. There will be all kinds of ukuleles in action—bass ukes, electric ukes, banjo ukes and acoustic ukes.
There will be food trucks, a vintage Hawaiian shirt booth, Luna guitars will be on display and Gulf to Bay Bait and Tackle will be featuring their unique ukuleles. Cage Brewing will even be presenting a one-day only special ukulele beer: The Flyiin’ Hawaiian.
In addition, Cage Brewing has built a stage and installed a professional lighting system—it’s not just a brewing—it’s a concert hall—slight exaggeration, it’s more of a large covered patio than a hall. (There is a hall that goes to the restroom though.)
We will be introducing the International Premier of the Florida Ukulele Orchestra of Florida (a 10-20 piece all ukulele orchestra.)
Plus there will be an Eric Clapton of the Ukulele contest—Slow Hand Uke with prizes for the best 2-minute ukulele interpretation of Eric Clapton songs.
3 pm = Doors open (folks can set up chairs outside for the jam).
At 3:30 we will have ukulele lessons for anyone that shows with a ukulele and wants to learn how to get started on the ukulele.
Music starts at 4 pm! The show begins with a ukulele tribute to The Beatles and attendees are encouraged to bring their ukuleles to join in. Professionals, amateurs and audience members alike are invited to join in.
To round out the evening, there will be a chance for up and coming ukulele players to showcase their chops. Participants can sign up for the Show Us Your UKE–Open mic that will be the final event to close the show.
