Powerstories Theatre presents: A Celebration of the Power of the Arts, featuring the poignant play, Right Before I Go, at the New Tampa Performing Arts Center. Hollywood acclaimed writer, producer, director, and playwright, Stan Zimmerman will narrate the play both nights. He is the mind behind Gilmore Girls, The Golden Girls, Roseanne, and Brady Bunch movies. Alongside community actors, the staged reading will feature local celebrities like chief meteorologist Denis Philips, television anchor Wendy Ryan, Tampa Bay Lightning assistant coach Rob Zettler, and more!

During the recognition of Suicide Prevention Month, directed by Karla Harley, Producing Artistic Director for Stageworks, Right Before I Go brings to life the final words of individuals lost to suicide, including messages from celebrities, LGBTQIA members, veterans, and bullied youth. This powerful play shares stories of survival and resilience, ending with a message of hope and inspiring conversations about mental health.

Event highlights include an art exhibition, gourmet hors d’oeuvres, a chance drawing and silent auction, the founder’s message, and Powerstories’ 25th Anniversary 2025 season reveal. Following the staged reading, there will be a talkback with mental health experts, dessert, meet and greet with celebrities, and a musical performance performed by Life Amplified SPECTACULAR Prom singers.

This event is a coming together to support a vital cause – pulling back of the dark curtain on mental health and bringing critical conversations to light. Witness a powerful piece of theatre and contribute to a larger mission of hope and healing. A portion of all ticket sales will benefit the Crisis Center, reinforcing our collective commitment to mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

The two dates are Friday, September 20th, 7-10 pm and Saturday, September 21st, 7-9 pm
