Benefit Concert for Young Actors with Special Needs

Local pediatrician David Berger, MD (“Dr. David”) will hold a concert to benefit children and adults with special needs, on Sunday, Dec. 3 at 2:30 p.m. at Tiki Cove. Dr. David and Friends will perform musical favorites, and young actors from Penguin Project and Ampersand Theatre will also perform at the event.

Dr. David, a father of two, discovered Penguin Project when his daughter was a founding volunteer for the group. “The Penguin Project is one of the most amazing groups I have ever been affiliated with. To see children with special needs, some who have never acted or even spoken in public, act out a full musical will warm anyone’s heart,” Dr. David said.

Penguin Project Producing Artistic Director Nora Paine said, “Penguin Project is an integral part of our artists’, peer mentors’, and their families’ lives. It gives our artists the chance to learn so much and to be the stars of the show. ”

The event schedule:

  • 2 p.m. – Doors open
  • 2:30 p.m. – Musical performance by Dr. David and Friends (first set)
  • 3:30 p.m. – Song and dance performances by Penguin Project and Ampersand Theatre
  • 4 p.m. – Dr. David and Friends (second set)
  • 4:45pm: Family-friendly DJ Dance Party
