Solar power systems for the home on the Sustainable Living program

Share

On Monday’s Sustainable Living Program we talked about solar power, mainly home power systems.

Our guests were the director for the Florida Solar Energy Center Dr. James Fenton, and Alan Brand, a local solar advocate and educator.

Both our guests agree that now is the right time to install a solar electric system on your home. In Florida right now, 12v solar electric is about ½ the price of conventional power and even the power companies are installing solar power plants. Jim and Alan feel that Solar Coop’s might be the best way to approach installing a system but there’s plenty of solar contractors to choose from. Plus with a little related experience with construction and electricity you can do it yourself!
