Sarasota rally against police shooting of black men

So far this week Alton Sterling was shot an killed by police in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Philando Castile was shot and killed by police in Minnesota. Minnesota’s governor asked for a federal investigation in to Castile’s shooting.

The Governor of Minnesota governor has asked for a federal investigation into fatal shooting of Philando Castile.

With the latest shootings, activists in Sarasota are holding a rally called “Justice for Alton Sterling & Philando Castile!” WMNF News interviewed Ruth Beltran, an organizer with ANSWER Coalition Suncoast.

In 2012 a black Sarasota man, Rodney Mitchell, was shot by police.

The “Justice for Alton Sterling & Philando Castile!” rally is Thursday beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Fred Adkins Park on the corner of U.S. 301 and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way.
