This week on True Talk, we had Russ Miller on the show. He’s a longtime Hillsborough County Democratic Party activist and precinct captain, someone who’s been dedicated to the party for years. But now, he says party leaders are trying to silence him—and anyone else—who speaks out against Israel’s war in Gaza.
Russ told Ahmed Bedier that despite his deep involvement in the party, criticizing Israel’s actions—especially its targeting of children—has made him a target. Since the war began, Israel has killed over 17,000 children in Gaza. The relentless bombing campaigns, which have now gone on for 15 months, have left Gaza with the highest number of amputee children in the world—kids permanently disabled by airstrikes and heavy weaponry. Almost all international human rights organizations have classified what’s happening in Gaza as genocide, yet Russ says even calling it out is enough to get people sidelined within the party.
