"Genius Of Dogs" Author, Professor, Dog Cognition Expert On "Talking Animals"
My guest on "Talking Animals August 14 will be Dr. Brian Hare, associate professor of evolutionary anthropology at Duke University. (Dr. Hare was slated to appear on the July 31 show, but was called away on an emergency—this is his re-scheduled appearance.)
Dr. Hare, who received his Ph.D. at Harvard, is regarded as an international expert on dog cognition--his research over the last decade has drawn both national and international media coverage--and upon arriving at Duke, he founded the Duke Canine Cognition Center.
He's also the co-author, with Vanessa Woods, of "The Genius of Dogs: How Dogs Are Smarter Than You Think," released earlier this year to good notices, including Publisher's Weekly calling the book "a scientific study that doubles as a warmhearted tribute to man's best friend."
Additionally, Hare is co-founder of Dognition, a company that operates a Web site where people can test their dog's cognition, learn about their pets, and not coincidentally, provide Hare and his Dognition colleagues with scientific data on a vastly larger canine population along the way.
Dr. Hare will speak with us live on "Talking Animals" on August 14 at 9am ET, and listeners are invited to participate in the conversation by calling (813-239-9663)
