MidPoint for Thursday, Aug. 31 – Matt Isbell and Darryl Paulson on St. Pete mayoral election

Share

Matthew Isbell from MCI Maps and USFSP Professor of Government Emeritus Darryl Paulson were our guests on this week’s show to talk about Tuesday’s stunning results in the St. Petersburg Mayoral Election, in which incumbent Rick Kriseman not only was able to extend the election into November, but actually received more votes than challenger Rick Baker.

That’s despite the fact that various polls – including one from the Florida Democratic Party – showed Baker leading all the way, with a chance of getting the 50% plus one needed to end the election outright.

Plus, Paulson, a lifelong Republican, explains why he’s left the party. Spoiler alert: It involves Donald Trump.
