On Tuesday, the independent group U.S PIRG released a report called Highway Boondogles 2 which listed 12 highway development projects throughout the country that fail to address transportation woes.
Making it the list is the much-criticized TBX project, which looks to expand parts of the interstate system in Hillsborough and Pinellas by constructing new toll lanes. Community groups opposing the project say the expansion will hinder neighborhood revitalization efforts in central Tampa and won’t solve the problem of chronic traffic congestion.
We’re joined by Bill Newton from the Florida Consumer action Network Foundation and former Tampa City Council member Linda Saul Sena to discuss the report’s findings.
