Hillsborough Commission moves ahead with high-speed ferry

Share

On Wednesday the Hillsborough County Commission unanimously recommended going ahead with a high-speed ferry plan to connect south Hillsborough with MacDill Air Force Base. During public comment several residents spoke in favor of the ferry. Environmentalist Mariella Smith said the fragile ecology of the shoreline near the proposed terminal will be protected.

Commissioner Ken Hagan said supporting the ferry project is an important step, but more needs to happen for it to become reality.

The commission voted 7-to-0 to support, in principle, the high-speed ferry on Tampa Bay.
