On Tuesday Hillary Clinton became the first female presidential nominee. Regardless of your political stance, you must admit that her nomination, almost 8 years after the first African- American male presidency,  is pretty historic. It proves to little girls across the country that you can be who or whatever you want to be-even run for president. Of course the race is not over yet-she still has to face off Donald Trump, who claims he knows how to be “presidential”-whatever that means- in November. Thursday, we will discuss Hillary’s nomination and continue our discussion with Leslie Lavan about the “presidentialization of Donald Trump.  Tune in at 10 am.

Hillary Clinton is NOT the first female presidential nominee. She hasn’t even been nominated yet. The convention as you likely know, will be held on July 25-28 and at that time a nominee will be chosen.

The first female POTUS nominee was Victoria Woodhull in 1872 and her running mate was an African-American man you may have heard of named Frederick Douglass.

More recently, Jill Stein was the Green Party nominee for POTUS in 2012.
