The Florida Polytechnic University Board of Trustees on Monday took a first step in the search for a successor to outgoing President Randy Avent.
The board signed off on the selection of trustees Vice Chair Beth Kigel to lead the school’s presidential search committee.
As chair of the committee, Kigel also will have the authority to retain a search firm that will help the school select candidates.
Avent announced last month he will step down as president in July 2024.
Avent plans to return to the Florida Poly faculty after a sabbatical.
Meanwhile, two other schools in the state university system, New College of Florida and Florida Atlantic University, are being led by interim presidents amid searches for new leaders.
