The best Caribbean bands in Tampa Bay... Jahfari, The Reality Band, Impulse, Spy vs. Spy; and the outstanding Haitian band Knext Level kicks off the party.
Jahfari - Jahfari, founded by Trent Mullins in 2001, is an eclectic group of musicians that play a wide variety of reggae genres. From ska to rock steady, roots to dancehall, Jahfari keeps the music and the people "Moving Forward".
Reality - Reality blends the roughness of street hip-hop and R&B, with the sweetness of island zouk and calypso, and the consciousness of Rasta roots reggae to present a revival music with a positive perspective on life's everyday issues. Reality uses these elements and others to create a distinctive roots music with clear heartfelt lyrics, smooth body-moving grooves, and unforgettable melodies.
Impulse - Born in Dominica, West Indies, Impulse is one of the most popular reggae groups in Central Florida. Their huge repertoire includes all the favorites to traditional covers, augmented with original music blending many different styles of Caribbean influences including reggae, soca, compa and zouk. Impulse has been hosting Wednesday nights at Skippers for several years.
Spy vs. Spy - For 12 years, Spy vs. Spy, fronted by Shaft, has been energizing audiences all across the greater Tampa Bay area. Reggae, calypso, zouk, soca, they play music with Caribbean flair.
Directions from North - I-275 to Bearss exit, then left one block to Nebraska. Go right on Nebraska for 1/4 mile to Skipper Road. Turn left and then left into parking lot.
Directions from South or East - I-275 N to Fletcher exit, then right one block to Nebraska. Go left on Nebraska to Skipper Road. Turn right and then left into parking lot.
