On today’s Sustainable Living Program we had three guests that will be speaking at this year’s Earth Day EcoFest Celebration this coming Saturday at Lowry Park in Tampa. We talked about composting with a last semester student at the USF Patel College of Sustainability, Ericka Leigh. Florida Friendly Landscaping was the second topic and David Bracciano, Tampa Bay Water’s Demand Management Coordinator joined us. Our last topic was “Using Your Natural Environment and Garden to Create a Sense of Wonder for your Child” and we had the Garden Director at Learning Gate Community School, Cissy Braddy Stanko. EcoFest 2015 is a community event organized by Learning Gate Community School, the City of Tampa and the USF Patel College of Global Sustainability to celebrate the many businesses, organizations, and individuals in the Tampa Bay area dedicated to the principles of sustainability – Ecology, Equity and Economy. Their 6th Annual EcoFest will be held on Saturday, April 18th at the Lowry Park bandshell area – 7525 N. Boulevard, Tampa, Florida 33604. The event will be open to the public from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM. There will be live music, workshops, demonstrations, informational booths, and green living products and services.
