Hillsborough County Aging Services is Honoring Black History and Heart Healthy Living with a number of events.
What: Black History Celebration
When: Feb. 26 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Where: Brandon Recreation Center
Celebrate the richness of Black History while enjoying Kumba dancers and steel drum music, poetry readings by the Brandon Jubilares, and an African attire fashion show. For more information call 813-635-8066.
What: Million Hearts Initiative at Senior Centers

Feb. 19 at 11 a.m., Plant City Senior Center, 1205 S. Waller St. in Plant City
Feb. 25 at 11 a.m., Wimauma Senior Center, 5714 North St. in Wimauma
Heart disease and stroke are the first and fourth leading causes of death in the United States. Heart disease is responsible for 1 of every 4 deaths in the country. Million Hearts is a national initiative from the Centers for Disease Control that has set an ambitious goal to prevent 1 million heart attacks and strokes by 2017.
