Community Storytelling Workshop at WMNF

Naveen Sultan about almost 2 years ago

WMNF has partnered with USF's School of Theatre and Dance to present a literary workshop in August called Remember, Write and Tell: Interweaving the Person and the Community through Storytelling and Song.

The workshop is inspired by the upcoming USF play, “the road weeps, the well runs dry,” by playwright Marcus Gardley. The play explores Black Seminole history and the mixing of Black Freedmen and Seminoles in Florida. The director of the play Fanni Green will be hosting the workshop.

We will ask people to tell their personal stories, how they relate to those around them and how to tell their story in a compelling way. This initiative believes that we all have a story to tell that joins together all of humanity and gives us a way to relate to one another despite our differences. The workshops will explain that cultures have a story and history which is what "the road weeps, the well runs dry" is trying to convey as well.
