Backyard Vegetable Gardens on the Sustainable Living Show

Share

On Monday’s WMNF 88.5FM Sustainable Living Program we talked about backyard vegetable gardens with our guests, two local county cooperative extension experts.

Brian Niemann, Pinellas County’s Florida Friendly Landscape Agent, and Jim Moll, Pasco County’s Florida Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator joined the show. Brian and Jim talked about what to consider before starting a garden, planning, and garden preparation. Each county in Florida has a University Of Florida IFAS (Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences) Extension Office. Every office is a little different to serve the specific needs of their area of Florida; but all are full of information and offer workshops and support to their local residents. Most of this information is online at the IFAS EDIS www.edis.ifas.ufl.edu  and local county extension websites.
