St. Pete Murals – Updated

St. Pete’s mural game is fierce, and more walls have been beautified since September’s Shine Festival. There is a map of murals here (not completely up to date). We will try to get some pictures and information up about some of the newer ones. Grab a copy of the map and your guests, and take yourself on a little tour. You can see the Tampa mural post here, and there is a map for those as well. That post and map will be updated as info comes in. (not completely up to date)

1001 1st Ave. N.

Jennifer Kosharek has several murals around St. Pete.  She has some fun ones in the alley behind the north part of the 600 block. She just finished a huge mural at the east end of the parking lot at 1001 1st Ave, N. before Christmas. Renowned mural artist Thirst collaborated with Kosharek, adding some fantastic patterning which complements her whimsical figures.

Here’s a detail:

The facade of American Stage/St. Pete College facing Williams Park is being made over by Tessa Moeller.

Another new mural is on the edge of the Old NorthEast neighborhood.

David Rothman has a mural in the alley on the Bay Food Mart, at 4th St. N. between 6 & 7 Sts.

Thomas ‘Coach’ English has brought the mural spirit, sans hipster mentality, to the city’s Southside. Here is a link to a great article in Creative Loafing about his murals.

Another Southside Mural – Vitale Brothers

On 4th St. S., right by the fast food and the fish market, there is a (now closed?) Mexican restaurant with murals by the Vitale Brothers. This lovely one is still there.

The Vitales also did this mural, and then someone graffitied it, which looks kind of cool.

Artist Derek Donnelly, whose hands have created many other local murals, led a team at SPC to make this gorgeous mural.
