An Interview With George Hodgman On Life Elsewhere

Share

George Hodgman writes frankly about his fears of being a gay man in the midst of the AIDs epidemic, his struggles with addiction, his avoidance of intimacy, but most of all he writes in intimate detail about leaving Manhattan for his hometown for life as an unlikely caretaker with his aging mother. This is the background to a funny, poignant book about a cultured gay man leaving New York City to care for Betty, his aging mother in Paris, Missouri. In Bettyville: A MemoirGeorge Hodgman tells the story of two unforgettable characters as their different worlds come together, with humor and charm. Perhaps years from now, Bettyville may be seen as the quintessential book on taking care of elderly parents. We are delighted to welcome George Hodgman to the next edition of Life Elsewhere.

Life Elsewhere airs:
Sundays 12 noon ET at The Source WMNF HD3
