On today’s Radioactivity, we air the latest Florida This Week, a political talk show moderated by Rob Lorei that is broadcast on local PBS station WEDU on Friday nights. This episodes tackles the big stories in Florida News and Politics: Charlie Crist’s bid for Congress, the special session on senate seat redistricting, the teacher turnover problems at five St. Petersburg elementary schools, and controversial remarks by Senator Marco Rubio. Our panelists include: Political consultant Chris Ingram, Bellair Bluffs city commissioner Joe Barkley, Tampa Bay Times enterprise reporter Ben Montgomery, Tampa Tribune city reporter Chris O’Donnell.

Then we look at an effort to divert children away from the criminal justice system. Hundreds of activists will meet with local elected officials tonight at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church  in Tampa, to discuss the arrests of children for minor violations like misdemeanor marijuana possessions. HOPE’s Rev. Bernice Powell Jackson joins us to discuss how the thousands of children arrested across the state for such offenses are being pipelined into the criminal justice system, negatively affecting their future prospects and families.

The meeting will take place tonight at 7 pm at the St. Peter Claver Catholic Church , at 1203 N. Nebraska Avenue Tampa, FL 33602.

Remember proggies, every new law and regulation you write is just another ‘tool’ that law enforcement will use to lock up minorities. Also maybe a few less cops in schools would help, cuz it’s hard to not act like a hammer when your surrounded by nails.
