With one foot firmly in the wellspring of traditional music, Postmodern Hootenanny makes the connection with the music of today in folk, singer-songwriter, Americana, alt country and more. Ed Lehmann is your guide on this exploration of the old and new, including live music guests and unexpected surprises in the music mix. It’s a celebration of roots music to appeal across the generations.

I started as a volunteer with WMNF in 1979, before we went on the air. Have done all kinds of cool stuff since. Folk shows , interviewed numerous artists, Richard Schindell my favorite, wrote a song about Ronny Elliot, performed in multiple tribute shows ( thanks, Flee ) and did some exciting Radio Theater ( thanks Shelia, Matt & both Daves ) . Met the love of my life at the station and married her. Hard to top that.

There is a song with a chorus that proudly says " I've had a hell of a life". Indeed I have. Especially with the 88.5 tribe.

Ways to listen

WMNF is listener-supported. That means we don't advertise like a commercial station, and we're not part of a university.

Ways to support

WMNF volunteers have fun providing a variety of needed services to keep your community radio station alive and kickin'.
