By Rob Lorei

On Radioactivity Wednesday, we continued our week long service of  free airtime to any candidate who is running statewide or locally and who is on the ballot on November 8th in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Sarasota, Pasco, Polk and Manatee Counties.

7 candidates took us up on our offer of free air time, they are :

  1. David Singer, House District 60 in Hillsborough County
  2. Barry Horvath, Pasco County Commission District 3
  3. Jennifer Webb, House District 69 Pinellas County
  4. Rex Dimmig Polk, Hardee Highlands Public Defender
  5. Jan Schneider, Congressional District 16 All of Sarasota and part of Manatee Counties
  6. Avis Harrison, Tampa City Council District 7
  7. Arlene Sweeting, Sarasota County Charter Review Board District 1

Then, Retirees will see a tiny increase in their monthly Social Security checks next year. The Social Security Administration announced yesterday that will be giving a .3 percent pay hike next year (based on the cost of living adjustment). For the average retiree that amounts to an extra $3.92 cents a month. Here to discuss this was Max Richtman, president and CEO of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare.
