Abbey Road, the last recorded album by the Beatles, may have been their best. Abbey Road had the intense production work of Sgt Pepper with the songwriting fitting of Rubber Soul, plus great contributions from the then underrated guitarist George Harrison. The group was still growing in all facets of its craft, from some of the best harmonies since the Beach Boys in rock and roll (especially on "Because"), to experimenting with the Moog synthesizer, and pre-heavy metal guitar rock ("The End," "I Want You (She's So Heavy)," "Come Together"). George Harrison blossomed into a major force, with "Here Comes the Sun" and the ballad "Something," the latter of which became the first Harrison written Beatles’ hit.

The Ditchflowers will perform an acoustic re-creation of Abbey Road song by song in its entirety about 5:00 p.m., as well as amped-up electric re-creation at 11pm.

But, as always, there's more! Another 1969 release, "Yellow Submarine," will be performed around 9pm Captain Obvious and the Duh Patrol, with Freight Train Annie on vocals, will play side 1. Jerry Outlaw (of Bogus Pomp) will tackle side two.

The soundtrack to the popular movie Yellow Submarine features songs from the movie and songs written for Sgt Pepper and songs intended for singles. Along with the orchestral side 2 they combine to make one of the more interesting Beatles’ releases. Although not one of the Beatles’ best selling albums it includes some of the songs that now rank as favorites among Beatles’ fans.

In between The Beatles’ classic album re-creations, 20 other bands/performers will perform other songs from the Beatles’ catalog. Hear your favorites and, except for Abbey Road, there will be no songs played twice! Each band/performer will do about 3 songs each--that’s over 60 Beatles’ songs in one show. Final line-up and schedule TBD.
